Salvador Coffee roast high quality beans from around the world, but their packaging failed to reflect their premium positioning or their Brazilian heritage. As a result, the brand was not attracting a wider range of new clients or consumers.
Emotionally, it was important to Salvador’s founder for the new packaging to capture the flair and romance of Brazilian café culture in the memory of his Grandfather; Quintana Salvador who made coffee at home and became the inspiration for the brand.
The new packaging works effectively in having a modern and consistent identity across all packs, treating each individual coffee roast like a mini brand. This involved writing five unique brand stories and hand lettering each logo. The Single Origin coffee header creates a frame for a stamping area, presenting a cost effective solution to enable the roast to change with each region.
A unique label dieline was also engineered to be easily adhered to the bags with a tear perforation for the opening – this cost saving innovation was key to the overall architecture of the pack and accredited as one of the most notable design solutions of 2015 by the World Packaging Design Society.
