We worked with Modus Operandi in 2015 to develop their brand identity and 500ml can packaging. This was following their impressive launch into the Australian craft beer scene, scooping more trophies at the Australian Craft Beer Awards than any other brewery in 2014, after only three months of operation.
Our common printed can and random label solution enabled Modus to launch a full range of beers in retail, whilst delivering premium impact in a cost effect way for a brewery needing to keep up with its own experimentation. Read full case study here.
After three years the following and demand for Modus Operandi beers has soared, earning a reputation in Australia for brewing some of the country’s best beers. This demand required expansion, the need for a faster canning line and a smaller 375mL ‘consumer friendly’ format, reserving the now famous 500mL labeled cans for limited editions.
The new cans hero the bold clarity of the MO brand mark; a graphic representation of their method of operation by the shape of a conical fermenter. It was important to retain the ‘silver bullet’ a reference to the raw metal can that they have become known for whilst creating a differentiation without the use of a paper label. By introducing a colour gradient to the top half of the can we created a clean but vibrant solution to represent each beer type with clarity of messaging and taste semiotics.
